On Monday, August 30, 2010 Pius Eberhard, founder of Eberhard AG in Schlierbach, celebrated his 85th birthday together with his family & friends.

In 1964 Pius laid the foundation for today´s Eberhard AG in a garage at Kirchstraße under very difficult economic circumstances. After relocating his company to it's current location on Auchtertstraße, the plant has been extended several times, the last extension being accomplished in 2008. Today, Eberhard machines and systems are being used all over the world in important sectors such as automotive, telecommunication, etc.

Since his retirement, Pius Eberhard remains very active both physically and mentally, and continues to take active interest in all events going on at his company as well as those of the Schlierbach village. He now lives with his wife in his home town Roßhaupten at the Forggensee (Allgäu), in the foothills of the Alps. That is where the mayor of Schlierbach, Paul Schmid, and the management of the Eberhard AG, headed by managing director Martin Haupt, travelled to visit him on his birthday.

Despite his strong commitment to business affairs, Pius Eberhard always found the time needed to support Schlierbach village. From 1975 - 1983 he was very involved with the local council, and many Schlierbach residents still remember him entertaining delighted children at the Kindergarten, disguised as St. Nicolaus. He also joined in many local action groups, one of his favorites being the development of a playground near the lake.

He remains seriously committed to local social improvements. For many years now his company, Eberhard AG, supports Schlierbach clubs active in youth projects. Mayor Paul Schmid delivered his personal congratulations, and thanked Pius Eberhard on behalf of all people living in Schlierbach for his commitment as manager of the Eberhard company, and as an involved citizen.
